I painted this monochromatic marsh painting as part of my 52 Weeks of Finding Light Series. I enjoy painting with a limited palette (in this case, just one paint color) when I want to focus on the values (lights and darks) and textures of a scene. I find the process and the end result to be quite calming. Inspired by recent visit to a favorite salt marsh on Cape Cod. Painted from memory and imagination in my studio.

The short process video in the listing photos shows how I slowly build up texture and details with a palette knife.
